A gentle breeze blew as he made his way to his girlfriend’s apartment. The man, born in Bandung on June 13, 1996, increased the speed of his sport motorcycle. A smile bloomed on his face—he had prepared a bouquet of flowers for his beloved. About half an hour later, he arrived at his destination. Gilion Evander rang the doorbell, hiding the bouquet behind his back. Someone opened the door, and in that instant, his body went weak. Why was it a shirtless man who answered? Still trying to stay positive despite the chaos in his mind, the man—known as Epang by his friends—nervously asked, “Is Ferly here?” Before he could say anything more, he saw Ferly walking to the door, looking shocked to see Evander. That was when Evander realized what was going on—when he saw the expression on the face of the woman he thought would never betray him. "Since when, Fer?" he asked, trying to contain his emotions. It turned out that the man Ferly was cheating with had no idea she had a boyfriend. Feeling betrayed himself, the man also became angry at Ferly. Ironically, it was Evander who ended up being the peacemaker, because before this incident, he had been completely love-struck. Time passed, and the man who had once been his girlfriend’s affair partner ended up becoming his best friend. Coincidentally, they shared a love for music, and Yoga invited him to join his band, BASIC, which had recently lost a member. Evander took the role of drummer. Since childhood, he had always been passionate about drumming. With the support of his parents, Evander had taken drum lessons. He dreamed of being as cool as Mike Portnoy, the drummer of the band Dream Theater and ex-drummer of Avenged Sevenfold. From middle school through college, Evander always made time to be part of a band—whether with his middle school, high school, or college friends. Even though he now worked as a general manager at his extended family’s FMCG company, his meeting with Yoga led him to join BASIC. Their heartbreaks were poured into the songs they wrote, which eventually brought BASIC significant recognition as an indie rock band frequently invited to perform at various music festivals, from small school events to major festivals.
